Good to know

Questions we get every week.

How high does a glass pool fence need to be in New Zealand?

A pool barrier must be at least 1200 mm high, measured from the ground on the outside of the fence, with no gap over 100 mm under or between panels. The gate must open away from the pool and be self-closing and self-latching. Our glass pool fence systems are engineered to Building Code clause F9 and come with a PS1.

What height does a deck or balcony balustrade have to be?

For a house, a balustrade guarding a fall of 1 m or more must be at least 1000 mm high from the deck surface (Building Code clause F4). On stairs the handrail runs 900 to 1000 mm above the pitch line. Our 3D designer sets these heights for you.

What is a PS1 and do I need one?

A PS1 (Producer Statement – Design) is a signed statement from a chartered engineer that the design complies with the Building Code. Every glass system we install has one, so your council can accept the balustrade or pool fence as part of a building consent without extra engineering.

Spigots or channel: which glass balustrade system should I choose?

Spigots are individual stainless clamps fixed on top of, or to the side of, the deck. They suit timber and composite decks and give a light, open look. A channel is a continuous aluminium base the glass sits in, with no spigots and the cleanest frameless line, and suits concrete, tiles and steel. Both use 12 mm toughened glass. You can compare all four systems in the designer.

How do I get a price for a glass balustrade or pool fence?

Draw your layout in the 3D designer on this page and send it. It works out the panels, hardware and handrail, and our sales team comes back to you with a proposal. We confirm the final price after a site measure.

Where does TK Glass NZ install?

We are based in Auckland and install across New Zealand, with regular work in Queenstown and Wanaka. Tell us where the job is when you send your design and we will confirm timing with your quote.
